Kos Holidays

Image

Kos lies in the Aegean Sea and is a mountainous isle fringed by pretty coastline. Second only to its big brother Rhodes in the popularity stakes, Kos has much to offer as a holiday destination. It is a good choice for a luxury holiday boasting many upmarket hotels and resorts around the island. The lively capital of Kos Town with its carnival atmosphere makes it the perfect base for party animals or, for a more relaxed atmosphere, Kos offers resorts where freshly caught seafood graces the menu in the local tavernas. Travellers often visit the Greek Islands for the beach life and Kos does not disappoint with its long sandy beaches, rocky coves and shingle bays, many also offering a range of activities.

The climate in Kos is typically Mediterranean with elevated light levels and constant sunshine which is a big attraction for Northern European visitors. The long, hot summers stretch from June to September with average temperatures of around 28-32°C. Even in wintertime, December to February, when the dry heat gives way to wetter weather with average temperatures of around 15°C during the day, visitors can still enjoy sunshine and blue skies.

Holidaymakers with a range of tastes and budgets visit the Greek Islands because there is literally something for everyone. Those seeking parties and night long activities gravitate towards the busy centre of Kos Town, whereas those wishing for a little distance from the bustle, stay at Psalidi, a quiet village resort a short way from the capital. Mastihari, a quiet resort to the north of the island, provides luxury holidays for the discerning traveller in a relaxed, peaceful setting which remains relatively undiscovered by tourists.
