Arguineguín is one of the most populated towns along the south coast of Gran Canaria. A typical Canarian fishing village, it is home to many locals rather than being a tourist resort. It is part of the municipality of Mogán and is located southwest of Las Palmas.
There are two main beaches in the town. One is mainly sand and runs virtually the length of the main promenade. The other is situated round the point is less sandy and is more popular with local Canarian families who tend to use it for barbeques and parties during the summer months.
On the point itself is the town’s working port which remains a harbour for the many fishing boats which supply the town’s many restaurants. Indeed, you will be spoilt for choice if you are looking for fresh fish to eat.
On a Tuesday Arguineguín hosts the largest market day on the island. The harbour in Arguineguin hosts a ferry service to Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogán which is well worth a trip to see some other parts of the island and its spectacular rugged coastline.
