Situated in North East Europe, bordering Russia and Latvia and just an 80km ferry ride from Finland is the Republic of Estonia. Its main tourist destination is the capital city, Tallinn. However the country offers so much more. With 50% of Estonia covered with forests and over 1500 islands, there is a wealth of things to do. Take a trip to its largest island Saaremaa, with its medieval castle and mud bath spas or Hiiumaa Island, formed millions of years ago by a meteorite explosion which can be reached via an ice-road from the mainland in the winter months.

The 5 national parks offer great hiking, kayaking and canoeing and of course, winter sports such as skiing, snowboarding and sledging are all popular pastimes. For those that prefer to shop, handicrafts and other items are cheaper here than in most other destinations in the EU and there are the popular Christmas markets in almost every town and city throughout December.
