Marrakech is an exotic and mysterious city, much of its ancient parts built by the Moors. Famous for being a centre of Arabic music, the Medina quarter is known for its traditional street musicians and snake charmers. Anyone with a taste for the exotic will not be disappointed by this lively city.
Marrakech, with all its Moorish history, remains a busy, living city. With its ancient walkways and traffic, it is an amazing combination that will provide an unforgettable experience. For those interested in the cultural side of things, there is a cultural festival in late June to early July. There is also the Marrakech Film Festival, which is growing in international status.
Weather
The sun shines almost constantly all year around. It gets really hot in the summer, with spring very pleasantly warm. So, if you enjoy a hot holiday, summer in Marrakech is for you! Holidaymakers are almost guaranteed not to get rained on, as the annual rainfall is exceptionally low. Those who love the sun and heat should put on that sunblock and head for this beautiful North African city! Be reassured though – the striking architecture of the ancient city is designed to create shade for the benefit of pedestrians, and many a romantic, shady walk can be enjoyed.
Autumn is ideal, with cool nights to recover from the heat of the day, and October and November are popular months for visiting. The same goes for spring, when the nights can even be a little chilly.
