Ixia is situated only three miles from Rhodes Town. The weather is wonderful all year round and the region rarely experiences rain. One good feature of Ixia is the constant breeze, which helps to cool the heat of the Greek sunshine. The resort is mainly aimed at families and those looking for luxury holidays and is not as popular amongst the younger generation. Most of the pubs in the area close at midnight but the hotels provide evening entertainment and for those seeking a more lively time, there are excursions to Rhodes Town.
Things to do in Ixia
If shopping is a priority, many visitors journey to nearby Rhodes to visit the Old Town, which is filled with boutiques, jewellery stores, antique stores and souvenir shops. Most of the daytime activities in Ixia are beach based, such as water sports. Since Rhodes is so close, visitors have access to a variety of activities including excursions to historical sites and ancient ruins. Boat trips to other areas of Greece are available for visitors wanting to further explore the region. Ixia is also a great location for people interested in obtaining a PADI diving qualification, as there are a large amount of diving schools in the area. Qualified divers can also hire equipment and enjoy the waters at their leisure.
One of the best things about Ixia is the restaurants. There is certainly enough choice available to suit all tastes. Fast food restaurants and cheap eateries are available, as well as traditional French and Greek cuisine.
