Found at the end of the Eucalyptus Road, Kolimpia, Rhodes, has all the amenities of any luxury holidays resort in Greece, but is that little bit more peaceful and quiet. There is plenty of entertainment within the hotel complexes, however the bustling nightlife that accompanies larger resorts is not present here. A blessing for many! There are three public beaches, including the main one, for all comers, and many of the hotels are beachfront, with their own private sands. The beaches are a combination of fine sand and pebbles. Kolymbia hosts around 35 hotels, B & Bs and apartment complexes, so there’s plenty of choice when it comes to holiday format. The whole place is very clean and well looked after, which adds to the feeling of being in the natural environment and leaves visitors with a sense of well being.
Things to do on holidays
It is the relative tranquillity which draws visitors back to Kolymbia many times. The famed 7 Springs (Epta Pige) is the reason the land is so green just here, and provides a very pretty nature walk or two for interested travellers. There are some truly lovely sights round and about, and hiring a car can be one of the best moves possible, giving visitors the chance to see some really interesting places, such as the Castle of Saint John ruins, and the Cave of Koumellos. Archangelos is the island’s second largest town, and is just 10 minutes drive to the south, while Afantou is a village 10 minutes drive to the north with traditional architecture, such as frescoed churches, and nice restaurants and bars.
