Fiorostefani, which is situated between Fira and Imerovigili on the Greek island of Santorini, is a picturesque and peaceful village. It enjoys some of the best views on Santorini from its perch on the edge of the island’s unique and dramatic volcanic caldera cliffs. Architecturally it is a mix of modern buildings and the traditional whitewashed houses the region is known for. Its serene setting, tucked away from the livelier of Santorini’s resorts, has earned it a reputation as the ultimate Greek luxury holiday getaway destination.
There are a number of restaurants and cafes serving traditional Greek cuisine, perfect for enjoying one of Santorini’s famous sunsets. Alternatively, the island’s capital Fira, with its historical landmarks and vibrant nightlife, is just a short walk away.
Things to do
Travellers who are looking for history will find Agios Nikolaos (St Nicholas) Monastery between Imerovigili and Fiorostefani, an atmospheric church with a magnificent carved temple. For those more on the hunt for a lively bar and club scene, a short walk into Fira will provide all the action anyone could wish for.
Almost all of Santorini’s beaches are situated on the east side of the island; the nearest to Fiorostefani is Exo Gialos, a quiet, pebbly beach located around three miles from the resort. It is well known for its rock formations. The most popular beach on the island is undoubtedly Perivolos, which is characterised by the famous black sand found all over Santorini. There is just about every type of activity and attraction here; from water sports to weddings and celebrity spotting.
