Ireland Holidays

Ireland is a place of a very distinct and proud history, a stunning and varied landscape of rolling hills and beautiful and remote coastlines and world famous brewing tradition. There is something for everyone to enjoy in Ireland whether you’re looking for a holiday in the great outdoors, a cultural mini break or just a really good party! The historic cities of Dublin, Cork and Galway are fascinating and beautiful whilst there are some magnificent and remote rural settings in County Donegal and some gorgeous beaches and little islands in West Cork. A visit to Ireland will have many people remembering its turbulent history. Having fought British rule for centuries, Ireland has a stronger sense of its own history when compared with most other countries. However, the Irish people are very friendly and the country has fascinating cities and diverse and beautiful landscapes, as well as carefully observed traditions.

Ireland boasts its fair share of ancient monuments, ranging from enigmatic Dolmen to such grand fortresses as Trim Castle and Ashford Castle in County Mayo and Bunratty Castle in County Clare. Of course, one of the things that pretty much everyone knows about Ireland is that it has fantastic pubs and excellent breweries. There are some world famous whiskey distilleries that can be visited and the Guinness Brewery Tour in Dublin is not to be missed! The identity of Ireland can be found in its array of traditional music and the rich custom of storytelling, which has been inspired by many world famous writers such as W B Yeats and James Joyce. Irish literature has a long tradition of examining real Irish life coupled with mythology. It’s this that defines so much of Ireland; with the craic – slang for gossip and conversation – being a strong part of the vibrant pub scene. Enjoying a pint of Guinness whilst listening to a fiddle being played in the background connects visitors with the real Irish way of life.

Geological variety is a certainty in Ireland and most interesting features make for an enjoyable day trip. A journey to the North Antrim coast takes visitors to a UNESCO world heritage site, the Giant’s Causeway, which is one of the most remarkable sights in the world. A trip to Galway on the west coast of Ireland takes visitors to the impressive vertical cliffs of Moher, rising 666ft above the sea. The leisurely pace of rural Irish life is distinctly relaxing but for a more lively experience there are some vibrant towns and cities to visit. Dublin is a fascinating cosmopolitan capital, and as well as its bustling nightlife there is the Guinness Storehouse where you can see the famous drink being made. It really is true that Guinness drunk in Ireland is better than that tasted anywhere else in the world. The capital’s Trinity College has notable Georgian architecture and houses the famous Book of Kells. South of Cork is the town of Cobh, where the Titanic Experience brings history alive, being the final port of call before the ship’s ill-fated journey. For a more active holiday the Connemara region is full of peaks and lakes. This is great hiking country to explore.

Visiting the remarkable country of Ireland will relax and excite in equal measure. The romantic atmosphere is infectious and there’s no doubt that you will want to return again and again.
